INGREDIENTS

Our family began making perfume in 1865 and we admire the craft and the chemistry that goes into fragrance creation. We guide the creative process by writing a story that acts as inspiration for the scent and noting specific ingredients we would like to use in the fragrance. A team of perfumers and evaluators composes the fragrance. All of our stories are true and based on historic Blocki fragrances from the early 1900s.

We source ingredients from a single family-owned fragrance supplier that has been in business for over six decades. They work closely with farmers and distillers in the regions where the raw materials are grown. And they have the technical expertise to ensure ingredients meet regulatory standards as well as their high internal quality standards.

Our perfumes contain a blend of natural and synthetic ingredients. We believe this is the best way to achieve beautiful and distinctive fragrances while also helping to make sure vulnerable ingredients are around for the future.

Our perfumes are cruelty-free and do not contain animal products, parabens, phthalates, or artificial colors.

Below are ingredient listings for each fragrance using the scientific names. The named ingredients are in concentrations of more than 0.05% and the term “fragrance” is a catchall for ingredients below this concentration. For example, For Walks contains citral but at a minuscule 0.008% concentration so it is not listed.

After training as a chemist and apprenticing with Master Perfumer LaLoie in France, Blocki opens a perfumery specializing in the finest essential oils, perfumes and pomades. It is the first perfume boutique in Chicago; a palatial space said to be well worth a visit from any retailer needing a lesson in how to present fine goods.
